Mack Jamison Park Dunn St.
In 1992, with a Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife grant, city funding and community support, the Mack Jamison Park located in the southern part of Yoakum took on an entirely new appearance. Grant funds were provided for a pavilion, restrooms, volleyball and basket ball courts, baseball field, and the purchase of new playground equipment. Community support came by way of fundraisers that paid for the construction of BBQ pits. Also located within this park, is the Jamison Youth Center where children gather for activities.

in the Chisholm Trail Memorial Park, as magnificent display memorializing the yesteryears that brought Yoakum from the cattle drive junction of Southwest Texas to a bustling railroad boomtown and, from there to today’s Leather Capital of the World. Along with the generous donations from civic minded individuals, the Texas Landscape Cost Sharing Program administered by TxDOT brought this unique project to life. The five star formation lined with white rock indigenous to the Yoakum area is accented with larger than life topiaries, lush trees and native plants that bring the history left behind by our forefathers back to us today. This welcoming portal portrays longhorn cattle on their journey North ushered along by a horse and rider with the help of his faithful cowdogs. Enjoy a short stroll through this scenic park, have a picnic or just lounge under the huge oak tree and enjoy the lovely surroundings that make up our memorial to the cattle drivers who worked so hard at molding this country and our community. As beautiful and serene as the park is during the day, sundown enhances the ambiance of the park with an entirely new allure.

Centennial Park West Grand Avenue

Centennial Park, as it was named in May of 1987, sits on land donated by the Steven’s Family. The park commemorates the Texas Sesquicentennial and Yoakum’s Centennial. A long-range project, begun in 1973, the park was a cooperative effort of the City of Yoakum, the Jaycees and the Pilot Club of Yoakum. Although the Jaycees club no longer exists, the Pilot Club continued to put a great deal of care and ingenuity into the park. This is also the site for the annual Christmas lighting and Santa Claus.
